I work in the field of spiritual psychology as a writer, speaker, researcher, hospice companion, and volunteer chaplain. I offer spiritual support to those facing end-of-life challenges. Many people are uncomfortable talking about death or loss, but I consider it an honor to support others during this sacred time.

I have a Ph.D. in philosophy, with an emphasis in psychology, cognition and instruction (the study of how we think and learn) from Grand Canyon University. I also have an MBA from the University of Phoenix ,and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
I have also completed 30+ hours of professional development on death companionioning from the School of American Thanatology.

I am a published author and researcher. My current academic research is focused on the relationship between prayer and well-being in Catholic women.
I am also researching a book that I will coauthor on family dynamics.

Career experience
HelpSayGoodbye.com, 2021 to present. Established a personal practice in the field of spiritual psychology to minister to those in need of spiritual and emotional support, especially those facing a terminal illness or needing end-of-life companionship and chaplaincy.
Angel Hands Hospice, Volunteer Companion and Chaplain, March 2021 to present. Visit patients in their home or group home/nursing home to offer companionship and prayer support.
Fern Marketing Group, Managing Director, 2014 to 2020. Started agency to assist clients with research, strategy, and creative development. Conducted extensive research with Catholic priests to develop strategy and materials for Catholic Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. Helped Catholic schools exceed enrollment growth. Hired by a Christian University as a motivational speaker and mentor to undergraduate students.
University of Phoenix, Director/Vice President, 1996 to 2014. Directed strategic marketing efforts for 100+ domestic locations and an online campus. Managed large staff with a $15M annual budget. Started and managed corporate development effort, including hiring and managing 100+ corporate liaisons. Also, managed constituency relations (alumni, faculty, and military). Founded and served as executive editor of three award-winning publications.
